Linux Administrator

As a Linux Administrator for POS Systems & POS Infrastructure, you will play a crucial role in ensuring smooth and stable operations of our POS environment. You will support daily operations, engineer Linux-based solutions for POS systems, manage rollouts, collaborate across teams, and contribute to the ongoing optimization of POS technology across our retail stores.

Responsibilities

• Perform patch and release management for POS systems.
• Maintain and enhance automation solutions (e.g., Bash/shell scripting).
• Analyze and resolve issues within day-to-day POS device operations.
• Provide technical support for POS hardware, including Cash Desk 2.0 and earlier generations.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize operating system images for POS devices.
• Create and manage Linux-based distributions tailored for POS environments.
• Package and distribute software components for Cash Desk 2.0.
• Integrate system-level functions into the existing POS infrastructure.
• Ensure system stability through testing, quality assurance, and continuous monitoring.
• Support the commissioning of new POS device generations.
• Assist with hardware rollouts, upgrades, and system migrations.
• Collaborate with internal departments and external service providers.
• Support POS infrastructure for new store openings.
• Participate in POS-related projects, including hardware rollouts and migrations.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation in Confluence and Jira.
• Contribute to knowledge-sharing within the team.
• Actively contribute to strategic planning and development of future POS technologies.
• Identify opportunities for improvement and help implement infrastructure enhancements.

Requirements

• Completed vocational training, relevant degree, or comparable IT qualifications.
• Solid experience in Linux system administration.
• Strong scripting skills (preferably Bash).
• Experience with automation, software distribution, patch management, and release workflows.
• Knowledge of POS hardware and software, including troubleshooting and technical support.
• Structured, solutions-oriented working style.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and collaborative mindset.
• Project management experience is a plus.
• Fluent English and excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work as part of an international, distributed team and resolve potential issues and challenges that come with remote work.
