Senior Java Engineer (FirstSpirit CMS)

We are looking for an experienced Senior FirstSpirit Developer to contribute to the further development, customization, and optimization of enterprise CMS solutions within the FirstSpirit environment. The ideal candidate has strong Java (11+ / ideally 17+) experience, deep expertise with FirstSpirit Developer API, and a proven ability to deliver scalable, maintainable CMS architectures.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement new features and functionalities within the FirstSpirit CMS environment.
• Create and customize FirstSpirit templates, forms, and scripts based on design and functional requirements.
• Develop and maintain custom FirstSpirit modules (FSM) and CaaS integrations (headless JSON).
• Configure and optimize workflows using the Workflow API, improving editorial efficiency.
• Manage user roles, permissions, and scheduled tasks in FirstSpirit.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical specifications and contribute to solution design.
• Implement frontend kit enhancements (v4.0+) including accessibility improvements, design updates, and performance optimizations.
• Ensure compliance with security regulations, accessibility standards, and coding best practices.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for developed features and configurations.
• Provide technical consulting and knowledge transfer to internal teams.
• Support continuous benchmarking and centralization of functionalities across multiple country websites.

Requirements

• 7–10 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java (11+, ideally 17+).
• Proven experience with FirstSpirit CMS: Developer API, FSM modules, CaaS, templates, workflows, and permissions management.
• Understanding of headless CMS architecture and REST/JSON APIs.
• Experience with frontend integration, including accessibility (keyboard usability) and performance optimization.
• Familiarity with cloud environments and CI/CD processes is an advantage.
• Strong grasp of web security principles and secure development practices.
