Principal QA Automation Engineer

As a Principal QA Automation Engineer, you will lead quality initiatives across the organization. Beyond building automation frameworks, you’ll drive strategy, mentor engineers, and set best practices to ensure the delivery of secure, reliable, and scalable systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of scalable automation frameworks, tools, and infrastructure.
• Partner with Product Owners, Development, DevOps, and Security teams to improve code testability and product quality.
• Guide test planning, estimation, and coordination activities across multiple teams.
• Conduct code reviews, advocate for engineering best practices, and ensure adherence to coding standards.
• Oversee CI/CD pipelines (build, test, deploy), integrating automation at every stage of the SDLC.
• Monitor and report on product quality metrics, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
• Mentor and coach engineers, fostering a culture of quality and technical excellence.

Requirements

• 7-10 years of experience in QA automation and software testing, with at least 2 years in a lead/principal role.
• Strong coding skills in Java, Groovy, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Proven expertise with frameworks/tools such as Spock, Selenium, Cypress, WebdriverIO, Playwright.
• Solid background in testing and developing web services (REST or SOAP).
• Deep understanding of coding standards, software design principles, and the test pyramid methodology.
• Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills with experience driving strategy.

Nice to Have

• Experience with gaming or high-load transactional systems.
• Hands-on knowledge of cloud, virtualization, and infrastructure-as-code (Docker, Kubernetes, Azure, AWS, GCP, Ansible).
• Familiarity with CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CircleCI).
• Background in cross-browser/device automation (Sauce Labs, BrowserStack).
• Contributions to open-source projects.
• A DevOps mindset with experience in Linux environments and deployments.
