Senior Frontend Engineer – Accessibility Specialist (React)

We’re looking for a Frontend Engineer with deep expertise in accessibility to join our team. In this role, you’ll take ownership of resolving accessibility bugs—most often surfaced through audits and external testing—while also collaborating cross-functionally to drive inclusive and standards-compliant experiences across our platform. The bulk of your work will involve React, where you'll fix issues, write tests, and occasionally develop new components or features. You’ll also serve as an internal advisor and reviewer, helping other teams maintain and improve accessibility standards in their own codebases.

Responsibilities

• Triage and fix accessibility issues reported by external testers or identified through audits
• Write accessible, semantic, and performant React code
• Create and maintain reusable components with accessibility in mind
• Develop automated and manual tests to validate accessibility improvements
• Review PRs within the accessibility team and from other teams working on a11y-related tickets
• Collaborate with design and engineering teams to ensure new features meet accessibility standards
• Provide guidance and best practices to engineering teams across the organization
• Participate in team discussions and audits to help shape accessibility strategy

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in React and modern JavaScript (ES6+)
• Solid understanding of web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1+)
• Experience fixing accessibility bugs in large-scale applications
• Familiarity with tools such as axe-core, Lighthouse, NVDA/JAWS/VoiceOver
• Experience writing and maintaining unit and integration tests
• Comfortable conducting code reviews and providing constructive feedback
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, especially across teams
• Bonus: Experience contributing to or maintaining design systems with accessibility in mind
