Data Architect

The Data Architect is responsible for defining and upholding the technical vision, architecture, and engineering standards across the Enterprise Data Lakehouse project. This role acts as the primary technical authority for the development and platform team, ensuring all components are scalable, secure, high-performing, delivering high-quality data as a product for integrating with AI/ML models, and aligned with the global data strategy.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the overall technical architecture and roadmap of data flows
• Ensure alignment with the client’s enterprise architecture, governance policies, and security standards.
• Guide and oversee technical implementations across development squads to ensure cohesive, end-to-end integration.
• Lead design reviews, ensuring platform components meet required performance, security, scalability, and maintainability goals.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and lead proof-of-concept initiatives for potential adoption.
• Define and enforce coding, testing, and performance standards across the team engineering community.
• Act as a technical escalation point for complex system issues and engineering challenges.
• Develop, document, and enforce data development standards, modeling guidelines, and architectural blueprints.
• Oversee database modeling, structural requirements, and semantic layer design for AI and BI consumption.
• Design end-to-end data pipelines and blueprints, ensuring efficient data flow across ingestion, transformation, and consumption layers.
• Implement and manage data contracts to ensure pipeline stability and SLA compliance.
• Ensure proper versioning of data models and coordinated release cycles in quality assurance and production environments.
• Optimize data models and pipelines for query performance, compute efficiency, and operational reliability.
• Lead testing and approval of pre-releases and hotfixes, working closely with Dev teams.
• Oversee data access control, protect sensitive information, and ensure the platform meets privacy/security requirements.
• Drive data quality, integrity, and metadata management practices across all layers of the stack and teams.
• Ensure data from different sources can be integrated, harmonized, and reused reliably across products.
• Actively collaborate with development squads, platform squad, squad Tech Leads, AI Product teams, Enterprise Data Architects and stakeholders to define and align technical requirements and solutions.
• Mentor senior engineers and Tech Leads, fostering continuous learning and raising technical maturity across the teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years in data architecture, engineering, or technical leadership roles
• Hands-on experience with cloud-native data platforms (Databricks and dbt preferred)
• Strong background in designing distributed data systems, scalable data pipelines, and modular data models
• Knowledge of data governance, quality standards, metadata, and access controls
• Experience leading architecture across squads and engaging with product and business stakeholders 
• Fluent English and excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work as part of an international, distributed team and resolve potential issues and challenges that come with remote work.
